Ex-Bolton Wanderers and Arsenal midfielder, Fabrice Muamba, has signed with Sports and Gaming agency Digital Sports Mgmt (DSM) on an exclusive basis.
DSM will manage the former England U21 international’s media and commercial deals across football and gaming including personal appearances, punditry, brand endorsements and live streaming deals.
Muamba, 32, recently worked on a campaign for DSM client Avery Dennison linked to their official shirt sponsorship of KLABU, the organisation that powers access to sport in refugee camps.
Fabrice who arrived in England aged 11 following civil war in his native Zaire (now the Democratic Republic of Congo), was keen to lend his support to KLABU after learning about its commitment to unlocking sports for the overlooked. The fact that the campaign was centred around the kit being in EA SPORTS FIFA 21 game was a bonus for the gaming enthusiast.
He said: “I loved working on the Klabu campaign, not only is it a special organisation doing important work, but it reignited my passion for gaming. The team at DSM were really helpful with their guidance and advice and I wanted to hear more about the clients, influencers and projects they are involved with. I knew I wanted to work with them.
“Initially we were discussing how they can support me with gaming but once I learned about the agency as a whole and the work they do across football and media I knew they were the perfect agency to support me exclusively. They have an impressive contact network.
Muamba, who has recently started live streaming on his own Twitch channel, added: “I am very grateful for the love I have been shown by my new gaming friends from the FIFA community so far. I am ready to work hard and have lots of fun!”
DSM was founded in 2016 by Rob Wadsworth and Tom Henderson who had previously worked at EA SPORTS on their FIFA title, spearheading the game’s licensing and sponsorship activation strategy within football, negotiating and activating deals with the likes of The Premier League, FC Barcelona, Lionel Messi and Gareth Bale to name a few.
Speaking about the signing, Henderson said: “We're delighted to be signing Fabrice and we're incredibly excited to see what the future holds together. DSM sits at the crossroads of Sport, Gaming and Entertainment, and now being in our fifth year, it's testament to all of the agency's hard work that Fabrice Muamba has put his trust in us to deliver first class and exclusive management services.'
Wadsworth added: “As an agency we regularly secure deals with and on behalf of elite level current and former footballers, whilst also managing a roster of gaming influencers and talent exclusively. Fabrice is our first signing who crosses over into those two areas of the business. We are thrilled he has put his faith in us to represent him.”
