DSM client, Avery Dennison, has recently signed as the official shirt sponsor for KLABU, the organisation that powers access to sport in refugee camps.
As Avery Dennison’s global Team Sport Activation and PR agency DSM will be supporting on the campaign planning an execution to help raise awareness of both KLABU and Avery Dennison through the partnership.
DSM were able to secure former refugee and professional footballer, Fabrice Muamba, as an ambassador for KLABU, launching the new kits with Avery Dennison as the official shirt sponsor.
Speaking about his new role as a KLABU Ambassador, Fabrice Muamba said “I am really proud that I have been asked to help highlight the work of this amazing organisation. Football was my escape route from the stress of what was going on around me, a way to make new friends, so I know how important it is for refugees to be provided with opportunities to make their lives better through sport.
“I have bought kits for myself and my family and I hope many more people will do the same, you get a cool kit and you are supporting a great cause”.
Muamba, who arrived in England aged 11 following civil war in his native Zaire (now the Democratic Republic of Congo), was keen to lend his support to KLABU after learning about its commitment to unlocking sports for the overlooked.
As well as building clubhouses in refugee camps and supplying much needed equipment across Africa KLABU provides streetwear inspired colourful kits. These kits then are also sold on the KLABU website to raise vital funds to support its mission to help young refugees cope and connect on their way to a better future.
The most recent collection, launched by DSM and Fabrice Muamba on September 24th features Avery Dennison as the official shirt sponsor, adding KLABU to their already impressive portfolio of partners, including The Premier League, Real Madrid, F.C. Barcelona and Bayern Munich.
Avery Dennison was integral in the launch of KLABU’s first home and away kits supplying trims, badges and heat transfers to adorn the already strikingly designed range.
Inspired by the KLABU mission of opening up opportunities through sports and connecting a global community, the new kit collection is themed ‘One Club’ with the aim that sport and fashion lovers across the world will be encouraged to buy a kit knowing it will help to make a difference to the lives of young people in refugee camps.
Michael Barton, VP/GM Global Retail Brand Commercial at Avery Dennison said, “Avery Dennison is delighted to extend our relationship with KLABU and support its efforts to unlock sports for underserved refugee communities. KLABU’s mission connects with our core business values of integrity, diversity and courage, and it brings us joy knowing that the simple act of purchasing a KLABU shirt helps deliver sports to young refugees.”
DSM were proud to be part of such an inspiring initial partnership launch and look forward to the rest of the exciting opportunities with Avery Dennison and KLABU.
